Mark Watson

Mark Watson, Bass-Baritone, was a long-time student of Daniel Ferro. He studied on full scholarship at The Juilliard School’s post-graduate opera program, the American Opera Center, and went on to win prizes in national and international vocal competitions.  

He has performed roles with Opera Orchestra of New York, the Baltimore Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, the Connecticut Opera, and other regional companies.  Mark has sung concerts, operas and oratorios in Israel, Italy and Belgium and on national television in Japan. In New York City he has appeared in Alice Tully Hall, David Geffen Hall, and Carnegie Hall. He has performed in the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia, Orchestra Hall in Detroit, and the Meadow Brook Festival.

Later in life, Mark studied hundreds of hours with Patsy Rodenburg and became an accredited Patsy Rodenburg Associate (PRA) and Registered Rodenburg Teacher (RRT). Internationally famous and author of seven books, Rodenburg has trained or coached the most renowned British actors in the world. Mark teaches how Patsy’s pragmatic, practical techniques to study a role or text can be adapted to the world of opera and art song.   

Mark is also an Opera Director, Board-Certified Music Therapist, is on the advisory Board of Encompass New Opera Theater and Opera Index, and frequently writes for Classical Singer Magazine.  He was the assistant to world famous composer Gian Carlo Menotti at the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy.
