Art Meets Music in Support of Daniel Ferro’s Legacy and the 31st Year of the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program
The collaboration of the arts has always been an integral part of the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program.
Starting with the very first year of the program in Greve in Chianti in 1995, the walls of the Master Classes in the Torre were adorned with art by local artists and friends. This collaboration has continued throughout the years:
“Tuscany” – Created by Nissan Engel to Celebrate the 10th Year Anniversary in 2001
“Celebrating the Best of Chianti – Art, Music, Food & Wine Festival” in Panzano in 2015
“Art Meets Music Exhibit in New York” in 2018
“Splendid Mise-en-Seine of Music and Art” created specifically as a backdrop for our Concerts in Greve by Nissan Engel
As we embark on our 31st Year, we will be featuring multiple artists and their works throughout the year in support of the mission of the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program and Daniel’s Legacy of “Passing on the art of beautiful and healthy singing to the next generation.”

Both couples shared their love of New York and found they had a lot in common…love of music, art and heritage! Daniel and Julia could even trace their ancestral background to the same town. Today, Julia continues to attend and support the Daniel Ferro Vocal Programs wonderful musical soirées in New York.

Daniel Ferro and Nissan Engel experienced a long personal and professional friendship covering over 50 years with shared interest in both the musical and graphic arts. The relationship continues with the Engel and Ferro families today!
Nissan Engel was an Israeli artist best known for his mixed-media paintings and works on paper. Engel’s imaginative use of collage and painted forms create lyrical compositional arrangements, reminiscent of Paul Klee and Max Ernst. Born in 1931 in Haifa, Israel, he went on to study art at the Beaux-Arts Bezalel in Jerusalem and theater design at the Centre Dramatique del’Est in Strasbourg, France. The artist lived in Paris throughout the 1950s, moving to New York, NY in 1965 where he met and was influenced by Abstract Expressionist painters. Today, Engel’s works are in the collections of the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, the Detroit Institute of Arts, The Jewish Museum in New York, and the Bridgestone Museum in Tokyo, among others.
Joy Ferro is offering the special album as part of our fundraising efforts for the 31st Year in Greve in Chianti and Daniel’s Legacy.
